For the implementation of road works under the P.M.G.S.Y. program, the government of Meghalaya has created a state Rural Road Development Agency for the construction of 645.24 Km of road under four subsequent phases benefitting 230 eligible habitations. Meghalaya is one of the eight states selected under the World Bank-funded P.M.G.S.Y. Rural Roads Project.

Connecting Rural and Urban Meghalaya by constructing all weather roads across the state. With a total investment of Rs 1,700 Cr., the government aims to enhance people’s connectivity by constructing 2850 kms of road by the year 2023. Major projects have been undertaken by the government to build highways and roads in remote locations and building iconic bridge on major rivers.

PMGSY-Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

Under the ‘Chief Minister’s Mobilization Support for Producers’ Program, launched in 2021 the government of Meghalaya extends its support to the farmer and producer group with easy access to credits, better transportation, and marketing infrastructure to level up their enterprises.

FOCUS- Farmers’ Collectivization for Upscaling Production and Marketing Systems – Support in Funding, Value Chain development, machinery support, market linkages, transportation, and aggregation of produce are a few of its services. An initial mobilization fund of Rs.5000/- to each member of the producer group is provided. The program aims to enhance the livelihood of Meghalaya’s farmers through interventions across the value chain.

FOCUS - Farmers Collectivization For Upscaling Production and Marketing System

Meghalaya has emerged as one of the successful states under MGNREGA Program. With the support of VECs, the state has achieved more than 70% of the set target for FY 2020-21 and aims to provide an income support of Rs 17,000 pa to the beneficiary through e-FMS.

Providing livelihood opportunities to rural households is a key focus area for the Government. Through MNREGS, the Government of Meghalaya has been transforming the lives of rural people and at the same time building infrastructure assets that benefit them in a unique community-led collaborative manner. In the 1st quarter of 2021, through the scheme, an amount of Rs.14,500/- cash support per registered household has been provided

MGNREGA-Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme

Self-Help Groups (SHG) is key in providing self-employment to women –these SHGs are bringing about a sea change in the empowerment of women and promoting economic and social development in the rural areas. Over 32,000 SHGs are functional now - the majority of these groups have been formed over the last three years. The scheme intends to support the beneficiaries through easy access to credit, initial start-up funding, training facilities, market linkage support, and various other interventions.

One of the primary goals of the government is to provide safe, clean drinking water accessible to all. With an aim to connect 5.9 lakh houses with Functional Household Tap Connection by the year 2022, the government has been implementing Jal Jeevan Mission across all the eleven districts of Meghalaya.

The Government of Meghalaya is committed towards the growth of the farmers in Meghalaya and has supported the farmers and Producer Groups (PGs) under FOCUS Program. In a recent visit to Williamnagar in Garo Hills, HCM Conrad K Sangma interacted with the farmers and PGs of Bakhpara, Resubelpara block and provided financial support of Rs 27.35 lac to 35PGs.&nbsp;Additionally, a total of Rs 10.50 lakhs was given to 20 PGs in Asimgere and Dalu Block of West Garo Hills. These PGs are into the production of Vegetables, Spices, Ginger and Pig rearing and are planning to increase their production for better livelihood.&nbsp;With the support, the group will be able to run its operation profitably and earn additional income for each member. Mr. Pritington Ch Marak, secretary of Rongsak Songma Producer Group expressed deep gratitude to HCM Shri. Conrad K Sangma and Government of Meghalaya for this financial assistance and hope that the Government will continue to support them in future as well.

In the interview Mr.Manseng said that he and the members were very happy to receive mobilisation funding support of Rs.50, 000/- under FOCUS scheme from HCM.Shri Conrad Sangma. The group wanted to do the farming of arecanut but always faced challenge of getting fund from any sources. Mr.Marak said that the group will use the Rs.50,000/- amount for starting a arecanut sapling nursery. This initiative will enhance the income of each member of the SHG. Mr.Manseng on behalf of his group expressed deep gratitude to HCM Shri.Conrad Sangma for this financial assistance and hope that HCM will support in similar way in future also.

Smt. Siannibha Sajem from Thadsning village, a poor lady with no house and no land was living a tough life. Due to lack of basic house facilities, she suffered from various health and safety issues. Looking at her poor socio-economic condition, village darbar donated a&nbsp;plot of land to her. With the support from villagers, she applied for financial support of Rs 1,30,000 under PMAY-G scheme and received the benefit. With the convergence of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, she also received an unskilled wage of ₹19,285 for 95 person days. Not only this, she got her house toilet constructed from financial assistance under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and free electricity connection through Saubhagya Scheme. The scheme was a blessing for her and in no time her life transformed from a landless poor women to a house owner. Her house got completed on 17th Dec,2020. Today, she is living happily in her newly constructed house and is motivating others to register for PMAY-G scheme.

People living near the Rongre river were facing difficulty in traveling from one village to another. They had to cross the river to carry their day-to-day activities, which made their life difficult and it was also dangerous during rainfall. With the construction of the Warimandal Bridge over the Rongre river, more than 9 villages in East Garo Hills are now connected and people can easily move from one side to another for daily work. Constructed with the support of 9 VECs under MNREGA at a cost of ₹1,58,26,000/-, the bridge will help people to access better medical facilities and improve the trade and commerce of the villagers, leading towards the prosperous life.&nbsp;

Babadam Primary Health Center in West Garo Hills is a transformed Health Care Center equipped with doctors, medical staffs, bed, and essential healthcare services. Earlier, the center was short staffed, suffering from power outages &amp; water shortage. Today, Babadam PHC is considered as one of the best health centers in Meghalaya providing services to people of more than 47 villages helping them fight against malaria infection and increased institutional deliveries to 90%.

The government understands the need of oxygen to fight Covid pandemic and has taken all necessary measures to ensure sufficient availability of oxygen in the state. To augment the process the government has approved the set-up of an oxygen cryogenic plant at the Baljek area of Jengjal, which is a tri-junction that connects all five Garo Hills districts. The proposed plant is situated at a strategic location and will be able to fulfil the needs of the five districts of Garo Hills as well as neighboring West Khasi Hills district.&nbsp;The government is optimistic about this new plant and believes that this plant will be a life saver for people in future.
