Smt. Siannibha Sajem from Thadsning village, a poor lady with no house and no land was living a tough life. Due to lack of basic house facilities, she suffered from various health and safety issues. Looking at her poor socio-economic condition, village darbar donated a&nbsp;plot of land to her. With the support from villagers, she applied for financial support of Rs 1,30,000 under PMAY-G scheme and received the benefit. With the convergence of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, she also received an unskilled wage of ₹19,285 for 95 person days. Not only this, she got her house toilet constructed from financial assistance under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and free electricity connection through Saubhagya Scheme. The scheme was a blessing for her and in no time her life transformed from a landless poor women to a house owner. Her house got completed on 17th Dec,2020. Today, she is living happily in her newly constructed house and is motivating others to register for PMAY-G scheme.

Smt. Gramchi Sangma used to live in a kutcha house without basic amenities. She was leading a tough life. From one of her friends, she learnt about PMAY-G scheme, she applied for the scheme and received the benefit of Rs 1,30,000/-. She received additional assistance under a CSR project, a joint initiative by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills District in collaboration with SELCO Foundation for installing solar panels on the roofs i.e. usage of sustainable energy to generate electricity and rainwater harvesting to collect and store rainwater for domestic purposes. Now, with the support from State and Central Government, she owns a pucca house with all basic amenities under PMAY-G scheme. Her house was completed on ­­­­20th Feb,2021. She expresses her deep gratitude to the State Government to own a pucca house with all basic amenities.

Smt. Sreplil Lyngkhoi from Rembyrngaw village, used to stay in a small tin sheet house, that had no proper roof and toilet facility. The family used to suffer during rainy and winter season and the house was not suitable to protect the family from extreme weather conditions. She learnt about the various government support programmes and registered herself under different schemes. As a beneficiary, under PMAY-G, she receieved a total amount of Rs 1,30,000; under MNREGA she received unskilled wage of ₹19,285 for 95 persondays; under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan she constructed the toilet for her house and got free electricity connection under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). Since 13th July, 2021, her life has changed. Today, she is living in a proper house with all basic facilities and is leading a happy and healthy life.

The story of Smt. Ismora Puwein, is the story of hardship of a family due to lack of proper residential house. She used to reside in a small tin house. She was not able to provide proper shelter to her family specially during the rainy seasons and extreme cold weather conditions. Due to lack of proper shelter, the family suffered a lot of challenge and hardship. Her life changed when she availed the benefit under PMAY-G scheme. With the total sanctioned amount of ₹1,30,000 under PMAY-G and her own contribution, her house got completed on 1st Feb,2021. With the convergence of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, she received an unskilled wage of ₹19,285 which generated a total of 95 person-days.&nbsp; She also received the financial assistance under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan for the construction of a toilet. The beneficiary herself contributed a little amount which results towards the successful completion of the house. Now the family owns a proper house and can protect the family from all-weather adversities.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015. The Mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households by the year 2022, when Nation completes 75 years of its Independence.

The Govt of Meghalaya aims to build Pucca and affordable houses for all rural households by the year 2022. The scheme is providing financial support to the people who are houseless or living in a dilapidated house or kutcha house. As a part of the program, more than 25% of houses have already been constructed

Earlier, Smt. Ilismera Pathaw, the beneficiary from Mawngap village used to resides in a semi-kutcha house with thatched roof and no toilet.However, in the year 2020, she registered herself under PMAY-G scheme. Her request got approved and she received the sanctioned amount of Rs 1,30,000. With this amount, she was able to build her a good house with a proper roof and a toilet, that got completed on 9th oct ,2020. She also received an unskilled wage of ₹17,017 which generated a total of 91 persondays. The beneficiary also received an amount of ₹12,000 under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan for construction of the toilet. Smt. Pathaw also contributed some amount for the successful completion of her house under&nbsp;PMAY-G scheme and today she owns a good house embedded with required basic facilities.
